5 Strategies to Get Ready For Life

“Get Ready For Life” is about managing your time so you can live with freedom; choose to do what is important and meaningful in your life.

Below are “5 Strategies to Get Ready For Life” to help you organize, prioritize and choose what is important in your day.

  1. Ask yourself: What is important to me? What is my priority?
  2. Think of: When am I most productive and clear? (time of day, environment, etc.)
  3. Pick 1 strategy: Utilize it consistently for at least 2 weeks.* * * * * * * * * *

Strategy #1. Clean Your Desk
Organize your desk so that each night when you step away, you have a clean desk. The next morning, you will have a clean desk (and a clean slate) to start with. Only have ONE active file, job, task on your desk at any time.
TAKE ACTION!: May take a couple days to organize your desk, but if you keep up this strategy for two week, you will feel and see a difference in productivity and efficiency.

Strategy #2. Meeting Agenda
Meetings can be a big time drain. Plan ahead and create a meeting agenda for EVERY meeting; even phone calls!
TAKE ACTION!: It only takes a couple minutes to plan an agenda and can save hours of discussion!

Strategy #3. Weekly Planning/Daily Review
At the beginning of your week, look over what needs to be done and schedule your week. Each night before leaving the office, review what you have scheduled for the next day.
TAKE ACTION!: Once in place, the process becomes easier and faster to plan and review.

Strategy #4. Daily Priority
At the beginning of the week, choose up to 5 priorities for the week. Focus on ONE priority for each day. If you have one main project for the whole week, prioritize tasks for each day. TAKE ACTION!: Prioritizing ONE thing to accomplish each day helps to focus and limit distractions throughout the day.

Strategy #5. Time Chunking
Turn off the phone, email and any other distractions and work on Projects in 60-90 minute “chunks.” Take breaks in between. TAKE ACTION!: May be difficult at first, but you’ll be amazed at how focused and productive you are during this time.

Take Action! and Live with Freedom

    This is another super article. This would really fit in well with the post today with energy management. Lots of helpful ideas here. Mary Kay always taught to have that desk cleared for the next morning and I can attest that it makes a huge difference along with the other helpful ideas.

    Yes, it makes a lot of difference…
    One of the many things I learned from my MK days is the 6 most important things list and I make that list before I go home. The next day, I am all set and ready to be productive.
    I find that it makes me more effective too.
